The character of God has never changed, what he abhorred in the Old Testament he abhors in the New Testament, sin is sin, but God loved us so much he sent his only begotten Son to die in our place for the propitiation of our sins, so that we could be born from above ( born again ) becoming a new creation in Christ Jesus to be the reflection of the Father upon earth as a witness of the love, mercy, and grace of God to a lost and dying sinful world. We are not saved to continue in sin, but empowered to live in the righteousness of Christ.
Paul through the unction of the Holy Spirit gives us an imperative; do not have fellowship ( things in common ) with the shady works of the world, but instead confute with them by bringing conviction through openly rebuking them. Why? Because we are called out of the darkness into the marvelous light of the truth.
We are not called to bend and blend; but to stand and defend! So many in the church today do not really know what godly love really is. One thing is for sure, it doesn’t look the other way when something has the potential to devastate a life through a blatant sin. The scriptures again instructs us how to love with the love of Christ.
(1) Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
(2) And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor.
(3) But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becomes saints;
(4) Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
(5) For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
(6) Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
(7) Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
(8) For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: Ephesians 5:1-8 KJV
Let no person deceive you, if you willfully ( knowingly and predetermined ) continue to sin against God, his wrath comes upon those children who disobey and they do not have an inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and or of God. Therefore to truly love someone who is willfully defiant in a sin or sins one must go to that one in the spirit of meekness to bring correction, reproof, and or a rebuke to awaken them out of their rebellion.
(16) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
(17) That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV
In closing, I would like to point out two things, first to be a disciple means to be a disciplined one, a person who adheres to the whole counsel of God not just the parts which they like, but to allow the scriptures to conform them to the image of Christ by the renewing of their minds, second we are not to embrace the works of darkness of the world and not respect those whom defiantly rebel and mock God in words and deeds. Loving them is one thing, but respecting them is another, the bible says honor those to whom honor is due, no one whom openly and defiantly mocks God is honorable. Treating them with Christian love is to openly disagree with them, if they want to call that disrespect, they have are the ones who have the problem, not Christians who are trying to hold up the standard of righteousness that God has empowered us to live and to declare to a lost and dying world of sinners.
Brethren, keep the faith today by learning to love biblically, to stand up for righteousness, and to disagree with the blatant filthiness of this sinful generation who serve the god of self exaltation, who say we are all children of god, which is a lie, either you are a child of Adam or a born again child of God, one cannot live like the devil and expect to go to heaven, one cannot blatantly thumb one’s nose at God and call oneself a child of his in truth. Brethren love the sinner, or faltering saint, but do not love the sin, do not compromise true. True love does not commend sin, but brings correction, true love does not respect sin, but abhors it. Selah!
